Whitby Dene was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and guests at Whitby Dene were treated to a summer garden party with plenty of tasty treats and refreshments to hand, including a delicious barbecue prepared by the home’s chefs. Live musical entertainment was provided throughout the afternoon by local pianist Andrew, who performed a selection of classic songs.
There was fun for all the family as visitors were invited to take part in the garden games and activities, which included a music based workshop by Music for Health, an organisation which enriches the lives of residents through unique and interactive sessions.
Saad Baig, home manager at Whitby Dene, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through lasting relationships, so we were delighted to welcome so many members of the local community to this special day.
“Both the residents and guests loved the host of entertainment that was on offer throughout the afternoon, and everyone commented how much they enjoyed the celebration. Overall it was a fantastic day and we look forward to welcoming the people of Eastcote for future events.”
