Mills Meadow raised more than £636 for the hospital by organising a special raffle. Members of the Care UK team, residents and their families all donated gifts for the raffle, with all proceeds going to support the work of the medical team on the ward.
Sheila Gauld, ward matron, accepted the cheque on behalf of the ward after the team visited the hospital. The team chose to fundraise for the ward as a senior carer’s twin granddaughters were cared for there after being born prematurely.
Marie Reeve, home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “It was lovely for the team to go to the hospital to present Sheila with the cheque.
“The work of the neonatal ward is close to the hearts of everyone here at Mills Meadow, so it was really important to us to raise as much money as possible to support the vital work they do. We hope to continue raising money for the ward over the coming months.”
Karina Youngs, donor engagement officer at Ipswich Hospital, said: “We’re really grateful for the generous donation from Mills Meadow. We rely on donations to continue to provide the best possible care to premature babies, and this money will go towards providing that care to new arrivals in Suffolk.”
