Langley Oaks has fun in the sun for Care Home Open Day

Langley Oaks welcomed the local community for an afternoon of entertainment to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

Langley Oaks was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Residents and guests at Langley Oaks enjoyed a summer garden party, where they were joined by special guest Howard Sereda, head of market oversight at the Care Quality Commission. As well as the tasty treats on offer, guests were tempted with a selection of homemade cupcakes which were available for a small donation to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Local singer, Paul Bretts, was on hand to keep everyone entertained throughout the day, and the younger guests enjoyed fun garden games as well as a visit from a local magician.

Jackie Johnson, home manager at Langley Oaks, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through lasting relationships, so we were delighted to welcome so many members of the local community to this special day.

“Both the residents and guests loved the entertainment that was on offer throughout the afternoon, and everyone commented how much they enjoyed the celebration. Overall it was a fantastic day and we look forward to welcoming the people of South Croydon for future events.”
