The team at Silversprings invited Rob Johnson, a tennis coach at Essex University, to host a special lesson with the residents.
Rob has developed a coaching programme which makes the popular sport accessible for all – regardless of age or ability – encouraging an older generation to get involved.
The visit coincided with the Wimbledon final which the residents watched with a delicious Pimms afternoon tea, prepared specially by the home’s chefs.
Donna Cousins, home manager at Silversprings said: “We all had a really fun day and it was great to see everyone getting into the Wimbledon spirit and taking part in the session, no matter their ability – it certainly created a lot of excitement amongst the residents and Care UK team.
“Here at Silversprings, it is important to us that our residents are encouraged to keep fit and active. You could see from the reactions on everyone’s faces how engaged they were in the activity – it was great way to celebrate the end of the tournament which has been enjoyed by the residents over the last couple of weeks.”
