Skylark House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
The team at Skylark House had organised a special garden party to celebrate the open day. Guests were able to enjoy the summer weather in the home’s garden and enjoyed delicious refreshments and a cream tea prepared by the home’s chefs.
Throughout the afternoon there was live entertainment local guitarist, Tommy Parsons. Visitors also had the chance to make some new furry and reptilian friends with a special visit from the animals at Wild Science.
Devendra Lallchand, home manager at Skylark House, said: “We were delighted to welcome so many members of the local community for the home’s very first Care Home Open Day, which is all about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through lasting relationships.
“Both the residents and guests loved the host of entertainment that was on offer throughout the afternoon, and everyone commented how much they enjoyed the celebration. Overall it was a fantastic day and we look forward to welcoming the people of Horsham to future events.”
