Free advice event returns to Hartismere Place

Hartismere Place is inviting the local community to its free event for families caring for those living with dementia.

On Wednesday 15th March from 2pm - 4pm, the team will open the doors to the care home on Castleton Way for its Understanding Dementia event.

Dementia specialist, Dr Nori Graham, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. The aim is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the team at Hartismere Place, as well as take a closer look at the care home and day centre.

Home manager, Marie Reeve, said: “Here at Hartismere Place we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones loving with dementia.

“Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Hartismere Place for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
