Work starts on new £6.7m Care UK home

Care UK and specialist construction partner Stepnell have celebrated the start of work on a new £6.7 million care home in Bromsgrove.

When complete, the purpose-built home will provide full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 81 older people.

The four-storey home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in January 2018, will feature a cinema, café and hairdressing salon. Safe and wheelchair friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.

Andrew Brett, project manager for Care UK, said: “We’re delighted work has begun on our new care home in Bromsgrove, not least because this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the town. We take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual home, as these factors can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment.”

Richard Wakeford, Stepnell director, said: “Construction of this high-quality new care home has got off to a great start. This is a high-profile project for Stepnell and we are proud to be playing a part in the delivery of this much-needed new care home for the Bromsgrove community.”

Designed to support residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge and dining room to help facilitate the creation of close knit communities.
