Mayor helps Cheltenham care home celebrate suite launch

The Mayor of Cheltenham, Cllr Chris Ryder, was recently given the honour of cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new Dickens Suite at Sandfields care home in Cheltenham.

The Care UK team opened the doors of the care home on St George’s Road to family, friends and the local community for a Charles Dickens’ themed open day, to celebrate the unveiling of the new suite, which will provide specialist residential care for 15 older people in Cheltenham.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors were entertained by Robert Burgess and Swithin Fry, who performed songs and readings from the musical ‘Oliver!’.

Deanna Lane, home manager at Sandfields, said: “It is a very exciting time for Sandfields. We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our services and it was wonderful to give the local community a first view of the new suite. This latest edition to the care home means that we are able to build on our existing provision and we cannot wait to welcome new residents to join the warm and welcoming community we have created here at Sandfields.

“We are very grateful to the Mayor of Cheltenham for helping us to celebrate this special milestone. Everyone had a brilliant day and it was lovely to see the smiling faces of the residents and visitors.”

Mayor of Cheltenham, Cllr Chris Ryder, said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to cut the ribbon and officially open the new Dickens Suite at Sandfields. The new facilities at the care home will provide much needed further support for the people of Cheltenham and it is great to see the welcoming community that has been created at Sandfields continue to grow.”
