From 10am until 3pm, the team at Stanley Park will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Throughout the day, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a garden tea party and live entertainment will help the event go with a swing. There will be stalls selling homemade cakes and those who drop-by can also try their luck at the tombola. Tours of the care home will be available and everyone will have the opportunity to meet residents and the Care UK team at Stanley Park.
Christine Gibson, home manager at Stanley Park, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Stanley Park has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned, and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Sunday 19th June and welcoming the people of Stanley to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Stanley Park will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
