Topping off a fantastic year, the team at Sandfields will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. Visitors will be able to take part in line dancing, there will be music from a live band and all those who drop-by can enjoy a delicious hog roast. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to take a tour of the care home and meet the Care UK team.
The anniversary celebration at Sandfields also coincides with Care Home Open Day. The annual initiative is aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, creating lasting links between care homes, residents and their local communities, and developing relationships across the generations.
Deanna Lane, home manager at Sandfields, said: “Since we first opened the doors here in June 2014, we have welcomed a total of 194 residents to Sandfields for long-term or respite care.
“There have been so many highlights over the last year and our second anniversary is a very exciting milestone for everyone. We are privileged to have the opportunity to care for the wonderful residents who have made Sandfields their home and to provide support to their families. The party is a big thank you to residents and their families and friends and also the amazing staff who endeavour to provide the best possible care all year round.
“It is great that our anniversary coincides with Care Home Open Day and we cannot wait to showcase everything Sandfields has to offer and show the difference care homes make to residents’ lives and their wellbeing. We have planned a fun day for all the family and a warm welcome awaits the people of Cheltenham.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Sandfields will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. .
