Ipswich and Framlingham communities enjoy celebrating Care Home Open Day

In celebration of Care Home Open Day on 17th June, Care UK’s Prince George House and Asterbury Place care homes in Ipswich, and Mills Meadow in Framlingham, welcomed the local community for a day of family fun.

Residents, relatives and visitors at Prince George House on Mansbrook Boulevard in Ipswich enjoyed a Royal themed event in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday this year, with a coffee morning, street party lunch, pamper sessions with The Body Shop and musical entertainment by Aspire Theatre. Asterbury Place on Aster Road in Ipswich celebrated the day with a bird and butterfly themed event, with various craft activities, a nature quiz and a flower art class with local wildlife artist Ken Oliver.

Mills Meadow care home on Fore Street in Framlingham enjoyed two days of celebration. On 17th June, residents and relatives welcomed visitors for traditional afternoon cream teas. On 18th June, the home held a barbecue lunch, games, stalls and a ballroom dancing performance by Care UK colleague Maria Almeida.

Marie Reeve, home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “It was a wonderful day and we were delighted to see so many local people. Residents had a brilliant day and it was great to strengthen our relationships with the wider community.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day events at Care UK’s Ipswich and Framlingham homes were also able to pick up their free copies of Care UK’s advice guides, including ‘Listen, talk, connect’, ‘As Easy as ABC’, ‘Good to Go’ and the new ‘Eating as we age’ guide which provides practical tips and recipe ideas for eating well in older age. For those who didn’t pick up a copy on the day, the free guides can be downloaded online at careuk.com/support-for-carers.
