From 12pm until 4pm, the team at Heavers Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
In honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday, there will be right royal celebration at Heavers Court on Saturday. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy strawberries and cream, and there will be entertainment to help everyone get into the party spirit.
There will also be a dementia awareness session for visitors to find out more about living with dementia; and all those who drop-by on the day can meet the Care UK team at Heavers Court and take a tour of the care home.
Natasha Leslie, home manager at Heavers Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Heavers Court has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned, and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Croydon to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Heavers Court will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
