A care home in Croydon is celebrating after one of its team members was recognised at a national awards ceremony.
The Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 120 care homes nationwide across Care UK.
Dandora Olupitt, team member at Heavers Court, on Selhurst Road, walked away with the Team Leader of the Year award, one of 20 accolades handed out during the event.
The panel of judges praised Dora for her can-do attitude and attention to detail. However, it was her leadership abilities and team-first mentality which judges felt set her apart from competitors in the category.
Natasha Leslie, home manager at Heavers Court, said: “We had a wonderful evening at the RCS Awards ceremony. Hearing about our colleagues’ hard work and commitment to help residents living fulfilling lives was truly inspiring.
“Dandora has earnt her colleagues’ respect through her hard work and can-do attitude, which I know is greatly appreciated by residents too. She’s always pushing the team out of their comfort zone, and has this wonderful ability to make everyone around her happy and motivated.
“This award is a testament to Dandora’s hard work and dedication in making Heavers Court a wonderful place to live, so I would like to say a big thank you to her and the rest of the team.”
Heavers Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, providing full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care. The home also has its own hair salon, sensory room and gym.
