Harry Sotnick House care home invites people in Portsmouth to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Harry Sotnick House care home in Portsmouth is inviting local people to visit the home on Cranleigh Avenue on Thursday 16th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 12noon until 3pm, the team at Harry Sotnick House will be opening the doors to the care home for a street party event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

Visitors to Harry Sotnick House will be able to get in the party spirit with live entertainment from Steve Kingsley's Disco. Refreshments will be available; and all those who drop-by will have the opportunity to meet the Care UK team.

Karen Oliver, home manager at Harry Sotnick House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives our residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Harry Sotnick House has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Thursday 16th June and welcoming the local community to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Harry Sotnick House will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
