From 11am until 4pm, the team at Broadwater Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s event at Broadwater Lodge is a Walt Disney themed day, complete with live entertainment, a tempting barbeque and a special visit from a host of reptiles. Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close with the creepy critters, including snakes and lizards; and those feeling brave will also be a chance to hold the exotic visitors.
There will be a special visit from pupils from Loseley Fields Primary School, who will be joining residents and visitors for the afternoon.
Angela Brookham, home manager at Broadwater Lodge, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Broadwater Lodge has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Godalming to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Broadwater Lodge will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
