Heatherbrook care home invites people in Romford to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Heatherbrook care home in Romford is inviting local people to visit the home on Como Street on Saturday 18th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 12.30pm until 4.30pm, the team at Heatherbrook will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

Residents and visitors will be able to browse stalls selling handmade craft items and gifts, and there will also be face painting and an entertainer to get everyone in the party spirit. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon with a barbeque from 12.30pm until 2pm. Visitors will also have the opportunity to find out more about what life is like living with dementia at a guest speaker talk from 2.30pm until 3pm.

Nazima Choudhury, home manager at Heatherbrook, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Heatherbrook has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned, and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Romford to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Heatherbrook will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
