Mildenhall care home wins approval of national care inspectors

Mildenhall Lodge care home has been given the seal of approval by a national care watchdog, with relatives and residents praising the home’s kind and caring team members who support residents’ needs with dignity.

Following an unannounced inspection of the care home on 3rd February 2016, Mildenhall Lodge has been given a ‘good’ rating in a report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The inspector found that considerable improvements had been made since the home’s last inspection in April 2015 and that the home is well managed, responsive to residents’ needs and has a robust staff recruitment process in place.

In order to assess service standards at Mildenhall Lodge, the CQC’s inspector spoke with team members, residents and their visiting relatives. They also reviewed the records and procedures already in place at the care home.

The inspector noted that the home supports residents to maintain their independence and keep active with a busy programme of activities such as flower arranging, cooking and trips out. Residents are also encouraged to share ideas and vote on what they would like to see in the home and what activities they would like to do.

Relatives were positive in their comments about Mildenhall Lodge, saying that they were pleased with the staff and the quality of care their loved one receives. One relative said “It would be the first choice care home for a family member” with another saying the home is “fantastic”. Relatives were also pleased to be involved in decisions relating to their family member’s care and that regular relative and resident meetings are held with opportunities to give feedback.

Mildenhall Lodge home manager Katy Hughes said: “We are all thrilled to have received a ‘good’ rating from the CQC. Not only are the CQC’s findings an important benchmark for those looking at future care for loved ones, but they also give existing residents and their families even more confidence in the care services we provide.”
