Free advice event returns to Colchester care home

The team at Silversprings will open the doors to the care home on Tenpenny Hill in Thorrington on Thursday 17th March for the return of its popular free understanding dementia event, which has been designed to provide support and practical advice for family carers.

From 1pm to 3pm, Care UK dementia specialist Bridget Penney will be on hand at Silversprings to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia.  There will be information on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers – all with the aim of helping people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.  

Everyone who attends the event will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own personal experiences, and there will also be a chance to meet the team at Silversprings and take a tour of the care home.

Home manager, Maggie Ziemianska, said:  “At Silversprings, we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones loving with dementia.  With the team here committed to offering advice and practical support, we are delighted to invite members of the local community to our first ‘Understanding Dementia’ event to take place this year.
