Residents held a raffle in the care home at Christmas and raised £300 for the primary school, who will be putting the funds towards the organisation and hosting of their school fete in the summer.
The £300 cheque donation was presented to the school during an assembly at the end of January.
Katy Hughes, manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “As Great Heath Academy is so close to Mildenhall Lodge, we all felt we wanted to do something as a way of showing our neighbourly support. Students at the school were involved in the home’s construction period, with Year 6s placing the last tiles on the roof of the home. We’re now looking forward to continuing the relationship and to bringing the older and younger members of the Mildenhall community together.”
Naomi Brown, vice principal at Great Heath Academy, said: “We are extremely grateful for the kind donation and we look forward to making further links with Mildenhall Lodge. Students on the School Council are deciding what they want to spend the money on and have already started coming up with a list of ideas!”
