The annual Care UK awards took place at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire on Thursday 19th November. The awards are a celebration of the great work, compassion and dedication of the staff at Care UK. With 114 homes across the UK, we support more than 7,000 people to continue living active and independent lives in warm, safe and comfortable surroundings. This year, more than 700 nominations were received across 17 categories in the Care UK awards.
Andrew Knight, Residential Care Services managing director, said: “A huge congratulations to all our winners and a big well done to everybody that had been nominated, we really appreciate the great job you’re doing.”
Bernie has worked at Pinetum for 15 years as a laundry assistant and provides an essential service to residents. Bernie takes pride in her work and works tirelessly, ensuring that linen and residents’ clothing is laundered and ironed to an impeccable standard.
Bernie helps those less fortunate residents by using her initiative, searching lost property and donated items to ensure they are well clothed, maintaining their dignity and quality of life.
Bernie always takes the time to get to know residents, chatting to them while collecting the washing or putting away their clothes. Bernie’s colleagues describe her as ‘invaluable, committed and simply brilliant’.
Pinetum Home Manager Sally Cooper said “We are all incredibly proud of Bernie winning the Housekeeper of the year award. It is well deserved; she is well respected and liked by all the care team and residents at Pinetum.”
Winner Bernie Sheridan said “I am very pleased to have won and be appreciated for the work that I do.”
