The ‘Falls prevention and awareness’ event will be held on Wednesday 25th November from 11am-1pm at Mildenhall Lodge care home in St John’s Close.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive expert advice from Age UK Suffolk Falls Prevention Exercise Co-ordinator, Sam Reid. There will also be the chance to take part in Otago exercises, which can help with improving balance and coordination, so carers are encouraged to bring their loved ones along.
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “Slipping or falling in later life becomes more common as the physical deterioration of eyesight, hearing and muscle strength makes it more difficult to spot and avoid hazards. At the ‘Falls prevention and awareness’ event there will be plenty of expert advice and practical tips about how to make you and your environment safer and reduce the risk of falls.”
Mildenhall Lodge provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 80 people, as well as flexible day care in the adjacent day care centre, the Mildenhall Club.
