The new care home will feature 82 en-suite bedrooms and will boost the provision of high quality residential care, specialist dementia care, nursing, and short term respite care in the town.
The purpose-built home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in October 2016, will feature state-of-the-art facilities including a cinema, hairdressing salon and café. Wheelchair friendly landscaped gardens will also give residents the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of spending time outdoors.
Speaking at the start on site ceremony, Justin Daley, construction project manager, said: “We're delighted that work has begun on our new care home in Horsham. This impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care for people living in the area.
“Since 2000, Castleoak has assisted us in our mission to improve the everyday experiences of those living in care and we're proud to celebrate the start of this latest scheme together.”
Castleoak chief executive officer, Craig Currie, added, “This landmark project for Castleoak will mark the 1000th care bed we'll have delivered for Care UK. Over the course of our 17 developments for Care UK we've established a collaborative approach to delivering projects that we know works well. This scheme will be testament to our excellent working relationship and will bring so much to the local area.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives – while promoting independence – the new care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will also facilitate the creation of close knit communities and will be configured into a series of individual suites with a dedicated lounge and dining room. Each bedroom will have an en-suite wet room, together with a flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and a 24-hour nurse call system.
