Taking time away from admiring the beautiful blooms at this year’s Sandringham Flower Show, the Duchess of Cornwall, President of the National Osteoporosis Society, has once again made time to drop in on one of her favourite stands – run by the local King’s Lynn branch of the Society and supported by Care UK’s community diagnostics DXA team.
The flower show, a highlight of the year for both the Kings Lynn branch of the charity and the Care UK team, is held on the Sandringham estate. Care UK and the charity work together on the stand, talking to people throughout the event about osteoporosis, bone density scanning and how to get a referral.
Janet Ritchie, Care UK’s National Clinical Imaging Lead, said: “The Duchess is immensely knowledgeable about osteoporosis and it is a real delight for the team to meet her. They have run the stand for four years now and are proud to talk about our service. We are especially delighted that our specialist nurse, who works tirelessly to promote the service, is now being licensed to administer and approve prescriptions for the drug Denosomab within West Norfolk.
“We have a great team in the area; our nurse works with primary and secondary care and drug companies, running interest and study days across West Norfolk, and we have a dedicated radiographer with more than 30 years’ experience.”
The service attracts compliments galore, with patients consistently reporting satisfaction levels well above the national average with special praise for the attitude of the team members.
Janet said: “Osteoporosis is a condition that effects men and women and the show is an excellent opportunity to educate local people, who we can help, about its causes, effects and treatments.”
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
