Laura Rudd, administrator and Sarah Emery, head housekeeper, decided to inject some fun into making sure everyone drank enough throughout the course of the day.
Laura said: “Ordinarily, we always make sure everyone drinks plenty throughout the day, however, following on from the government guidance to increase fluids during the heatwave, we decided to encourage residents by making it more appealing to re-hydrate.”
Laura and Sarah supplied an old fashioned refreshment stall which they took round the suites at Britten Court for ‘elevenses’, with residents having a choice of ice cream, fruit cocktail smoothies (specially blended by the chef), as well as a selection of fresh juices and fruit to ensure hydration levels were kept high.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed this novel approach to hydration and were inclined to drink much more than usual. The care team at Britten Court also enjoyed the ice cold treats which kept them cool throughout the day.
At 3pm all the staff stop daily for tea at three and today was no exception - we had live music on with Ken Dalton and once again, Laura and I took our stall back out to offer refreshments to one and all.
