This will be the second ‘Understanding dementia’ session to take place at the home, following a successful event in October 2014.
The event will run from 12 noon to 3pm and will be hosted by Rachel Niblock from Dementia Adventure, who will share her knowledge and provide practical tips for those caring for someone living with dementia.
Speaking about the event, Sue Atkins, manager at the Davers Club said: “Our first ‘Understanding dementia’ event received so much positive feedback that we are delighted to welcome Dementia Adventure back for a second time.
“At Care UK, we understand being equipped with plenty of information can make all the difference for those caring for loved ones living with dementia. By working in partnership with Dementia Adventure, we can provide people with an opportunity to learn more about dementia and speak directly to professionals in this area as well as team members from the care home.”
Rachel Niblock from Dementia Adventure will help attendees learn how memories are lost and give guidance on how to overcome communication barriers. Attendees will also be able to pick up complimentary copies of Care UK’s Listen, Talk, Connect guide, which provides more practical tips on how to communicate and connect with people living with dementia.
