Birdwatching takes flight at Mildenhall day club

The Mildenhall community have established a love for birdwatching in the gardens at the Mildenhall Club, where they have been busy making fat balls, filling bird baths, and setting up feeders and bird boxes.

Mildenhall Club manager Ann Pitcher said: “As the Club gardens here are quite new, we have spent a lot of time encouraging local bird species and wildlife to visit us. Not only is it great for the local environment, but creating a bird friendly habitat has been a fun outdoor activity that the Club members have really enjoyed.

“The ‘bird corner’ in the Club is becoming a popular spot and members are delighted to identify and record the species they see. Birdwatching has many calming and sensory benefits, particularly for those living with dementia, so the ‘bird corner’ is here to stay and we look forward to hosting more bird-related activities and events in the future.”

The Mildenhall Club, in St John’s Close, Mildenhall, is adjacent to Mildenhall Lodge care home, which opened in June 2014. For more information about the Mildenhall Club or to book a free taster session call the manager Ann on 0333 321 1971 or visit careuk.com/mildenhall-club.
