From 2-5pm carers can visit Silversprings in Thorrington near Colchester to meet representatives from local charities and support services, including Age UK. As well as access to information and practical advice, visitors can take the opportunity to relax and unwind with a choice of free pampering treatments including hand and head massages, holistic therapies and manicures.
Regina Mparutsa, home manager at Silversprings, said: “Latest figures from Carers UK show one in eight adults are family carers. This amounts to around 6.5 million people who have taken on the care of a loved one, with over one million people caring for more than person. I believe there is a real opportunity for our home and the local community to support the fantastic work carers do – work which is often done alongside holding down a job and other family responsibilities.
“At Silversprings, we wanted to play our part in making life a little easier for carers in Essex, so we are hosting an event which gives people the opportunity to seek out support while also enjoying a little time out and a spot of well-deserved pampering. There will also be an opportunity to tour the care home and meet our team. Everyone will be made very welcome, so we would urge people to book their place and come along on Thursday.”
Situated on Tenpenny Hill in Thorrington, Silversprings has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite care.
