Debate over future of Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre

A statement from Care UK on recent media coverage about the future of the centre.

Care UK understands that the commissioners are unlikely to retender for the services provided by Care UK at the  Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in Plymouth once the current contract runs out at the end of March.

Hospital Director Patricia Warwick said: “Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre is a high performing service which has, for many years, delivered excellent, innovative care and been highly praised by patients. It is therefore disappointing that commissioning decisions mean that its future is now in question.

We will continue to see what options may be available to maintain the services beyond the end of March 2015. We will also be consulting with our affected colleagues regarding the implications of this agenda that the clinical commissioning groups have communicated to us.

Patients and GPs will be updated on any changes as the situation becomes clearer but for now, it is very much business as usual.”
