Tips on leading a healthy and happy life in your later years at free event in Mildenhall

A free event to help people in their older years find new ways of leading an active, healthy and independent life will be taking place in Mildenhall next week.

The Health and Wellbeing open day has been organised by Care UK in partnership with Suffolk County Council, and will be held at Care UK’s new Mildenhall Club on Thursday 31st July.

The open day will include a variety of free activity sessions, such as aromatherapy and Otago exercises for healthy ageing, as well as advice on healthy eating and hydration, and musical entertainment. The open day will run from 11.00am to 3.30pm and free lunchtime refreshments will be provided.

The Mildenhall Club is adjacent to the new, state-of-the-art Mildenhall Lodge care home in St John’s Close, Mildenhall. The Club offers flexible day care and respite services to help older people living in their own homes to keep active and independent, as well as enjoy meeting up with friends and keeping up with their favourite hobbies. The open day will provide an opportunity to view the new day club and meet the Care UK team, as well as meet and talk with some of Suffolk’s health professionals and wellbeing experts.

The Health and Wellbeing open day is the second event to be held this July at the Mildenhall Club, following a successful ‘Understanding Dementia’ event with Neil Mapes, director of the multi-award winning social enterprise, Dementia Adventure.

Ann Pitcher, manager at the Mildenhall Club, said: “Our first event held at the Club on the 16th July was a great success, with feedback forms indicating that attendees loved the venue and would like to see similar events held at the Club in the future.

“The Mildenhall Club is the perfect place to bring older members of the community together. If you’re new to the Club or if you’ve visited one of our open days or events before, my team and I look forward to welcoming you all on Thursday 31st July for what will be another great, informative event.”
