Family fun was the order of the day when The Potteries care home on York Road in Broadstone took part in National Care Home Open Day last week.
Run by leading health and social care provider Care UK, The Potteries care home in Poole, pledged its support for the annual initiative which aims to dispel myths around the care environment, changing perceptions of care homes and connecting residents with their communities.
Visitors to The Potteries enjoyed a host of 1900’s British Regatta themed activities, a live Jazz band and afternoon tea, and they were also given the opportunity to have a guided-tour of the care home.
Tricia Penney, interim home manager, at The Potteries, said: “National Care Home Open Day provided a fantastic opportunity for the team here to invite local people to take a closer look at the care home. It was a pleasure to meet and greet all of our visitors and everyone enjoyed the activities.
“We hope that by opening our doors we have challenged any preconceived ideas about care homes and we have demonstrated how the modern care environment is warm and inviting, and plays an important role in the community.”
Those who visited The Potteries picked up complimentary copies of Care UK’s first-person guides - ‘As Easy As ABC’ guide and the recently launched ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’.
