Run by leading health and social care provider Care UK, Kingsfield care home pledged its support for the annual initiative, which aims to dispel myths around the care environment, changing perceptions of care homes and connecting residents with their communities.
Visitors enjoyed a variety of food and refreshments, as well as entertainment from local singer Rob T and Scott from Recollections Entertainment. Many also took part in tours of the home and Kingsfield’s team were on hand to answer any questions.
Allison Purkiss, home manager at Kingsfield, said: “National Care Home Open Day provided a fantastic opportunity for the team at Kingsfield to invite local people to take a closer look at the care home. It was a pleasure to meet and greet all of our visitors and everyone enjoyed the activities.
“We hope that by opening our doors we have challenged any preconceived ideas about care homes and we have demonstrated how the modern care environment is warm and inviting, and plays an important role in the community.”
Those who visited Kingsfield picked up complimentary copies of Care UK’s first-person guides - ‘As Easy As ABC’ guide and the recently launched ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’. The guides provide practical information and tips to those caring for loved ones living with dementia, as well as advice on how to communicate with a loved one in a care home and make the most of their visits.
Kingsfield has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services including residential and nursing care, specialist dementia care and respite care.
