Green light for new £7.5m Care UK home

Care UK has been given the green light to deliver a 73-bed care home in Banbury. The new £7.5 million home is expected to create up to 75 jobs and when complete will boost the provision of residential, nursing and specialist dementia care in the town.

An 18-month construction programme will begin on the site at North Bar Place in the next few months, with the new care home expected to welcome its first residents at the end of 2015.

Designed by Newport based KWL Architects, the purpose-built three-storey home will feature a cinema, hairdressing salon and café. It will also incorporate space for different leisure and hobby activities and landscaped gardens that allow residents to spend quality time outdoors.

The home will be designed into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close knit communities. Each of the 73 bedrooms will benefit from an en-suite wet room, flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and access to a 24-hour nurse call system.

Richard Pearman, business development director at Care UK, said: “With planning consent now in place, Care UK is one step closer to delivering its vision for the new Banbury care home and to generate employment opportunities in the town. This new care home represents a major investment for Care UK and every last detail has been thought through to create a high specification building that promotes independence and will enhance residents’ lives.

“We believe in tailoring care plans to fit the requirements of each individual resident and work closely with their relatives to create a ‘home from home’. We are looking forward to demonstrating this approach in Banbury and creating a quality care environment.”
