Public invited to join in health centre’s anniversary celebrations

An open day for family fun and information is being planned by staff at The Hill General Practice & Urgent Care Centre in Sparkhill, Birmingham, as they invite the public to join them in celebrating the centre’s fifth anniversary.

The Hill, which is run on behalf of the local NHS by leading independent health care provider, Care UK first opened its doors on April 22nd 2009. It is open seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm, including bank holidays, and provides all patients – both registered and unregistered – a wide range of services. These include health information, advice and treatment for a variety of minor illnesses and injuries. It also offers many other services, such as vaccinations and immunisations, contraception services, cervical screen services, advice on stopping smoking, asthma and diabetes management, and child health surveillance.

Service Manager, Sobia Hussain, said: “We want to celebrate our fifth anniversary by involving the public so we have arranged an open day on April 22nd when there will be lots going on at the centre. We want it to be fun but also informative so the public better understands the full range of services available at the centre.”

Visitors to the open day will be able to talk to have an informal chat with a GP in the waiting area about the workings of the patient forum, view a screened presentation on the centre which also introduces members of the team, have a free NHS health check and talk to other health professionals who will be popping in during the day.

There will a play area for the children and a children’s entertainer will be on hand to keep them entertained. Goody-bags will be handed out and complimentary fresh fruit and fruit juices will be available.

The Hill General Practice and Urgent Care Centre is located within the Sparkhill Primary Care Centre, 856 Stratford Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, B11 4BW. Anyone who cannot make the day but would like further information on the centre’s services can call 0345 111 1310.
