Seal of approval for Haverhill care home

Care UK’s Place Court care home in Haverhill has been given the seal of approval by a national care watchdog, with praise for the care home team and the high standard of care provided.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors recently examined Place Court and interviewed team members, residents and relatives before announcing that the home now meets the Government’s five national standards of quality and safety, which are:

  1. Treating people with respect and involving them in their care
  2. Providing care, treatment & support that meets people's needs
  3. Caring for people safely & protecting them from harm
  4. Staffing
  5. Management

Residents’ choices and preferences are central to the care given, with their views taken into account at all stages. The inspectors were able to see how this is managed day to day, examining care and treatment plans and talking to team members and residents. Family members are also consulted during the consent process when necessary and formal records of consent kept.

Manager at Place Court, Becky Abbink, said: “I really appreciate the team’s hard work and dedication here at Place Court. They get to know each resident individually and were praised by the inspectors for their knowledge when it comes to meeting each resident’s needs. I am pleased that this has been recognised and that the inspectors’ report meets the Government and the CQC’s standards of care.”

Place Court care home on Camps Road in the town provides residential care for older people with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia. The adjacent wellbeing centre provides day care clubs and activities for older members of the community living in their own homes.
