Mayor presents awards at Care UK home

The Mayor of Surrey joined residents at Care UK’s Whitebourne care home in Frimley for a party to present carers with awards for their long service and dedication to the community.

Cllr Beverley Harding met residents at the home in Burleigh Road and presented Rosaline Stevenson, Jackie Thomas, Heidi Stroude and Debbie Batchelor with certificates for 10 years service along with badges and £100 Debenhams vouchers. Tracy Allfrey and Beata Trawcynska were also presented with five-year service certificates and badges.

Home manager Ros Stevenson said: “We were delighted when Cllr Harding asked to join us. She visited all the residents and talked to relatives before presenting awards to some of our long-serving colleagues.

“It was the culmination of a busy time for our residents. They’ve recently visited the local pub for a festive lunch, went to see Peter Pan at the Princes Theatre in Aldershot and, as many of them love cooking, they have been busy in the kitchen creating a beautiful cake and tasty cookies which they shared with our visitors.”

Pupils from the local Lakeside Primary School also visited the home to entertain the residents. Ros added: “The residents love to join in with the singing and they love to chat with the children. Many of our residents have lived in the area all their lives and they like to keep involved with the local community.”
