A Dagenham health centre has passed a national quality audit with flying colours.
Broad Street Medical Practice and Walk-in Centre, in Morland Road, received a routine inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. The CQC inspector passed the centre on all five core standards:
The centre is operated by Care UK, a leading independent provider of health and social care services, and services are commissioned by the local NHS. The centre combines a traditional family GP practice and a walk-in centre. The walk-in centre is open every day and is designed to help people with busy lifestyles who want access to flexible and convenient health services.
It offers high quality care for all minor injuries and illnesses, including cuts, bumps and grazes, burns, strains, sprains, bites, ear, throat and minor skin infections, eye conditions and stomach pains. The walk-in centre is also piloting a cardiovascular risk screening programme for local residents, whether registered with a GP or not.
The CQC inspector’s report praised the centre, saying: “People’s needs were assessed and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. People told us they were involved in planning their care and that they did not have to wait long for an appointment. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. People we spoke with told us they found the premises clean. We found the premises were well maintained and steps had been taken to ensure they were safe. We found records were stored securely and were accurate and up to date.”
Stephen Colman, centre manager at Broad Street Medical Practice and Walk-in Centre, said: “We are pleased to have passed this important inspection and delighted with the comments from the inspector. The inspector’s conclusions are testimony to the dedicated work of the entire team at Broad Street NHS Centre.”
