On Friday 29th November the 15th National Care Awards took place at the Hilton Metropole, London. Care UK was fortunate enough to be nominated for three categories, one of which was for ‘Lifetime Achievement in Care’. The nominee was Carys Done, a Senior Administrator at Pinetum care home in Cheshire.
Carys was nominated by Tracy Simpson, Home Manager, as she thought Carys was such a worthy winner. Below is a short snippet of why Tracy thought Carys deserved this award:
“Carys has worked at Pinetum for 20 years. Her job title is senior administrator but this is only a small part of what she does. She has spent 20 years by the side of various managers who have worked at Pinetum and she has been a ‘wing man’ to all of them, supporting change and offering her experience without question.
She supports her colleagues and is always there for them, offering help and advice where needed and often helping with tasks with the residents.
Carys believes strongly in going the extra mile for everybody at Pinetum and has made a difference to the lives of many residents and relatives over the years, offering smiles and a chat on arrival or a shoulder to cry on. Everyone who knows of Pinetum knows of Carys and I think she deserves this award as recognition for all she has willingly given to people over the years.”
Despite being nominated, Carys did not win the award as there were some other outstanding nominations. Carys continues to work as hard as ever at Pinetum, where she has worked for 20 years.
