On Sunday 8th December, residents at Forrester Court visited the Marriot Hotel in Park Lane to celebrate Silver Sunday. The residents were invited by the mayor of Westminster to Celebrate Silver Sunday, an annual day of fun and free activities for older people across the UK. The event started at 2.30pm and finished at 4.30pm, when residents and staff that attended were treated to sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee.
The event attracted approximately 2000 people and was attended by people from across the Westminster borough, aged 65 and over. Residents that attended were accompanied by staff, which also had a fantastic time.
This was a treat for all the residents, especially for those who were unable to visit the local theatre. Staff also provided refreshments for the residents, who enjoyed a selection of tea and biscuits. There was a band from the royal navy who provided entertainment to make this a special occasion
Activities coordinator, Mariama Barry, who arranged the event said:
“It was a really nice event, which was very packed and had a great atmosphere with over 2000 people in attendance. It was good music, nice food and was nice to see the boy scouts support the older community”.
