Lowestoft care home colleague wins place in national award finals

Marc Scott, acting manager at Blyford care home in Lowestoft, has won through to the finals of Care UK’s National Residential Care Services Awards after impressing judges with his approachable personality and aptitude in making the home run as smoothly as possible.

Marc, who has been at Blyford for three years, was nominated for the Team Leader award category, where judges look for qualities such as a professional ability to handle tasks and a capability to be responsible, reliable and good at listening to others. Marc is one of four finalists in the Team Leader category and is looking forward to the announcement of the winner at the awards ceremony and gala dinner organised by Care UK on 14th November at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxford.

Marc Scott said he was surprised and delighted to have been nominated as a finalist. Marc said: “I love making a difference to people’s lives, by organising outings, events and enjoyable activities that improve the quality of life for older members of the community.

Having developed a career in the care over the past eight years, I find it very rewarding and I am thrilled and honoured to represent Blyford as a finalist in Care UK’s National Residential Care Services Awards.”

Marc was nominated as a finalist for the Team Leader category because of his calm and professional leadership style, and because he often stretches above and beyond his role at Blyford, taking a hands-on approach to all necessary tasks. Marc leads by example to promote efficient team work amongst colleagues at Blyford and to encourage others not to be afraid of getting involved.
