Riverside care home donates £100 prize to local charity

We were recently awarded a £100 prize for taking part in the Care UK ‘Over to You! Survey’, a survey which gains a true insight into the opinions of Care UK employees. The team at Riverside decided to donate our £100 prize to BASIC (Brain and Spinal Injury Centre) as we felt this was such a worthwhile cause.

Activities co-ordinators Holly Wainwright and Wendy Bailey visited BASIC with two of our placement students, where we were given a tour of the centre.  On the tour of BASIC we were lucky enough to see the facilities that were available, which included a specialist gymnasium, a library with specialist books on brain and spinal injuries, cafeteria, photography classes and aromatherapy sessions.

Activities Co-ordinator Holly Wainwright said:

“It was an interesting, eye opening experience and nice to see a charity that is working on such a good cause”

After the tour we had a coffee and chat in the cafeteria with a member of the team, met some of their clients and found out about all the work they do. The visit ended with the £100 cheque being presented to the team at BASIC.
