Ipswich care home fundraises £200 for Macmillan

Crabbe Street care home and wellbeing centre in Ipswich took part in Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ event to fundraise for the millions of people who are in need of cancer support across the UK. Crabbe Street colleagues and wellbeing centre customers baked a variety of delicious cakes and biscuits, before selling them to raise a total of £219.50 for Macmillan.

Crabbe Street care home manager Pam Purnell said “Residents, wellbeing customers, friends and family and colleagues all enjoyed the coffee morning and we are grateful for all those who donated money and cakes towards Macmillan.”

Yvonne Kane, manager at Crabbe Street wellbeing centre, said “Baking is a regular activity enjoyed by Crabbe Street’s wellbeing centre customers and it is rewarding to bake for such a worthwhile cause.”

Crabbe Street care home in Ipswich is for older people with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia. The wellbeing centre is located adjacent to the care home and provides flexible care from Monday to Friday for older people who are still living at home but may require support and assistance during the day. As well as providing respite to family carers, the wellbeing centre encourages customers to continue much-loved hobbies such as baking, to socialise with others in the community and to take part in outings and events.
