Franklin House have been named the winner of Care UK’s competition for the best tea party. Care UK homes across the country took part and ran their own 1950’s themed tea parties, supported by preferred supplier PG Tips, who provided each home with different flavoured teas and a CD of 1950’s music.
Franklin House went that little bit further than your typical tea party - the team worked hard to create an authentic tea room for the residents, with a gramophone, vintage tea adverts and a life sized cardboard cut-out of Her Majesty! The residents were thrilled to see the Queen at their tea party and enjoyed having their photo taken with her.
Activities Coordinator, Lola, also sourced some vintage fabric and, with a little help from her friends, made head ties and aprons for the team. Resembling 1950’s tea ladies, each team member took on the name of the tea they were serving – Miss Lemon, Miss Earl Grey etc. and served the residents the different flavoured teas.
Lola and Home Manager, Nompilo, happily accepted a beautiful hamper full of goodies as their prize, courtesy of Unilever and PG Tips.
