It has been a very busy summer and we started the fun by welcoming visitors to Cherry Orchard for our summer fete.

It was a wonderful event with visitors enjoying our Elvis entertainer, face painting, bouncy castle and lots of stalls selling refreshments, cakes, bric-a-brac and clothes.

There were also competitions including: guess how many balloons are in the limo; name the bear; guess the weight of the cake; and guess how many sweets are in the jar.

Our manager Esther Enwezor said: “It was a wonderful day. We had lots of visitors and everyone had a great deal of fun.”

Residents have also started a culinary summer holiday around the world. Each month we will ‘visit’ a different country to try the food and culture. Our first stop was Nigeria and it proved very popular with the residents. Esther said: “We are a multicultural home with residents and team members coming from many different cultures. Everyone enjoyed Nigeria and they are looking forward to the next stage of their tasty tour.”

And no summer would be complete without a trip to the seaside. We recently enjoyed a day out in Southend with everyone enjoying a walk by the sea and fish and chips before returning home in a limo generously provided by A G Butlers.
