Summer fun comes to our care home

On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes joined hundreds of others around the country opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day, and at St Peter’s Court we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations.

Visitors enjoyed a Wimbledon-themed afternoon tea party, with lots of games and activities based around the tennis championship.

Manager Regina Mparutsa said: “It was a very festive day. Ladies were enjoying themselves in our pamper parlour having their hair and nails done before the big match and everyone joined in with our singalong - designed to recreate the year Sir Cliff Richard sang at Wimbledon - before we sat down to watch the matches on our big screen.

“It was a marvellous family day and it was lovely to see so many of our residents and their families joining members of the public to enjoy the fun.”

As well as showing visitors around our home we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com.
