50s themed open event will showcase lively and caring day clubs for older people

Crabbe Street wellbeing centre in Ipswich, which offers daytime care for older people who have Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, will be opening its doors on Monday 29th July and encouraging members of the community who are interested in finding out about the services to join in with a 50s themed tea party.

The open event, which starts at 2pm, aims to raise awareness of Crabbe Street’s day clubs and activity-based, personalised daytime care for older people who have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. There will be a tea dance and traditional tea party treats with the centre’s team in 50s style dress especially for the occasion.

Yvonne Kane, Crabbe Street wellbeing centre manager, said: “The open event will give a taster of the fun and lively atmosphere that is enjoyed by all at our centre and during the event our team will be on-hand to offer their expertise in dementia care and to answer any queries.”

The event is open to anyone who has an older relative or friend with dementia who would like to see what Crabbe Street offers and how the activities can also benefit them as a carer, giving an opportunity for a break while their relative enjoys daytime care.

Crabbe Street wellbeing centre will be continuing the party all week for wellbeing centre customers, Crabbe Street care home residents and family members, with various 50s themed activities.

Crabbe Street wellbeing centre is at 57, Crabbe Street, Ipswich IP4 5HS. For more information about the open event, or to find out about the day clubs and services, call: 0333 321 8355 or visit www.careuk.com/suffolk
