The Lowestoft and Beccles communities help to name their new care home

The local Lowestoft and Beccles communities have helped to name the district’s new care home. Care UK’s competition attracted over 25 entries and Councillor Alan Murray, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Care and Chris Hopkinson, Care UK’s Operations Director, have selected three finalists.

They are ‘Marinus House’, nominated by Jackie Rix, a family member of a resident at The Dell, Beccles; ‘Britten Court’, proposed by Nicola Chilton, a Care UK colleague from Lowestoft and finally ‘Swallow Court’, suggested by Vicki Perrett also from Lowestoft. They all received £100 shopping vouchers which were presented at The Dell care home in Beccles on 6^th June.

Chris Hopkinson, Regional Operations Director at Care UK, said: “As a new and valuable service for the area it’s fantastic to have the community involved in the development process.”

Cllr Alan Murray, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Care said: Cllr Alan Murray, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Care said: “We received a number of very interesting suggestions and I would like to thank all those that got involved. These new developments will be people’s homes and therefore it is only right that they are involved in the naming them.” 

A final choice of the name for the home will be made by Care UK in partnership with Suffolk County Council in the coming weeks. Four more ‘give our home a name’ competitions are still to be held across the county. Look out for further details of this at www.careuk.com/suffolk
