On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes joined hundreds of others around the country opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day, and in Hyde we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations.
At Riverside care home visitors enjoyed taking part in old-fashioned garden games, and were able to spend the afternoon with a musical accompaniment, as a singer entertained them throughout the home’s garden party. Local schoolchildren also came along, as did Riverside’s pet therapy dog, and the home was open to visitors all day.
Activity Coordinator Holly Wainwright said: “We were very glad to welcome our guests for the open day – our residents always enjoy welcoming people into their home and we are happy to be able to show people a little of what we do here day to day.”
As well as showing visitors around our home we also gave away copies of the brand new booklet As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com
