Olly Durman, a plumber from Southampton visited Southampton NHS Treatment Centre when he needed an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repair. After receiving his treatment, Olly is now on the road to make a full recovery.
He had been experiencing increasing pain in his knee after a previous football injury which had started to affect his work. Olly said: “With most injuries, I just thought the pain would go away after time, but unfortunately it didn’t. I was having problems doing my job, especially climbing ladders.”
Olly decided to visit his GP who gave him the choice of where he could be treated. Shortly after his referral Olly visited Southampton NHS Treatment Centre for his initial consultation. He said: “I saw Chris Waller for my first appointment. He was very informative and explained everything in a lot of depth, which was interesting.
“I was then booked in for my treatment and given several dates, so I chose a Saturday clinic for my procedure. On the day, I hadn’t been sat in the waiting room for five minutes and I was called in for my treatment which was nice. I was impressed that I was given a couple of options for my treatment sedation but I decided to go with a general anaesthetic.
“After waking up from my operation I was a little groggy but fortunately the team on the ward was very friendly. This really helped and later that day I was discharged. The treatment I received was great – everybody at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre was fantastic.”
