St Patricks Day was the perfect day to launch a new Irish-themed pub and beer garden at Tiltwood.
A party at the home marked the launch of The Tiltwood Arms, and the new bar is already proving a big hit with residents and visitors.
The idea came from residents and their relatives, who suggested converting the home’s former shop area into a bar so that they could enjoy a drink and a relaxed place to chat during visits or somewhere to meet up with their friends in the home.
Manager, Diana Wiltshire, said: “It is in the perfect place. On a warm day people will be able to take their drink outside to our pretty courtyard garden and enjoy a drink and a chat in the fresh air.
“I am delighted that the team were able to create the facility that residents and their relatives wanted and I think they will get a great deal of pleasure using it.”
The pub’s first session was a great success. Diana said: “People came down to the bar, ordered their drink and then went in to the active living centre to take part in the entertainment.”
The Irish-themed fun was provided by regular entertainer Steven Morris who dressed as a leprechaun for the day and performed some traditional songs.
