On Saturday 29th June from 10.30am - 3pm, the team at Tiltwood, on Hogshill Lane, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Tiltwood has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to painting their own pottery, visiting an exhibition of the home’s stained glass butterflies, and enjoying live entertainment from a singer, as well as a tombola, cake sale and picnic.
Kristina Jacunskiene, home manager at Tiltwood said: “Creative activities are such an important part of life for people in care, whether it’s painting to help enhance hand-eye coordination, or just reminiscing by putting on some music – the arts are a vital part of life here at Tiltwood.
“We’re so excited to be hosting our Care Home Open Day event this month. We had a brilliant time when we did this last year so it made sense for us to open our doors to the local people of Cobham again and show them just how much fun you can have in a care home.”
